My Father's Dragon - Ruth Stiles Gannett, Ruth Chrisman Gannett You have to admire a story with the protagonist with a name like Elmer Elevator. This fable really makes you consider the importance of packing many useful things in your bag before you set off on an adventure. The only bad aspect to this book is that it might encourage children to feed candy to animals (for instance, while visiting the zoo). Maybe, you should add a little side note while reading this aloud, that you should only feeding animals candy as a means of your own survival. Anyway, I love this little book and most of all I adore the pulchritudinous illustrations.
